EXA Infrastructure: The Gateway to the Mediterranean

09/10/2024

Over the last decade, the Mediterranean region has emerged as a strategic hub for global telecommunications, attracting a growing number of subsea cable systems. With the region’s critical role in connecting Europe, Asia, Africa, and beyond, the demand for reliable and diverse connectivity solutions has skyrocketed. Single points of failure (SPOF) are no longer just a concern; they are something that businesses cannot afford.

This is where EXA Infrastructure steps in, providing innovative solutions to ensure a faster, safer, and more resilient digital ecosystem across the Mediterranean.

We’ve made significant progress on this front. By increasing the number of cable landing stations (CLS) from to 15 in key Mediterranean locations such as Genoa and Marseille, we are diversifying our network to provide seamless, protected connectivity. This expansion, paired with strategic partnerships, has made EXA Infrastructure a critical player in providing the gateway to and through Europe. Whether businesses are connecting from the east, west, north, or south, EXA ensures they can do so without the worry of connectivity issues or bottlenecks.

One of our most recent and impactful partnerships is with Telecom Egypt (TE), the region incumbent that has long played a pivotal role in global telecommunications. Egypt, thanks to its unique geographical position, serves as the most efficient crossing point for subsea cable systems between the Red Sea and the Mediterranean. More than 90% of international Eurasian traffic — over 200 terabits per second (Tbsp.) — passes through the country.

With this partnership in mind, EXA Infrastructure has become the one-shop-stop for Asia-based operators looking for access to a broad European network. Our participation in the WeConnect platform means we are able to provide multi-route solutions with protected capacity circuits, ensuring a more reliable and efficient digital pathway from Egypt to Europe and North America. This approach is a game changer for fast-paced, high-growth organizations that need quick, secure, and scalable digital solutions to support their operations.

And it doesn’t stop there: operating the largest owned network across Europe and to North America, EXA Infrastructure continues out-invest the market and provide operators with diverse routes for rapidly expanding transcontinental data flows.

EXA Infrastructure has established itself as a key player in the Mediterranean region, providing much-needed diversity, reliability, and security for companies looking to connect through or within Europe. With its growing network of cable landing stations, strategic partnerships and an unwavering commitment to operational excellence, EXA is paving the way for the region’s digital future.
